L'allée Dumanoir is a place I've always loved in Guadeloupe for its beauty. It reminds me of the endless avenues of palm trees in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. 😊
I often pass through the allée Dumanoir when I go to the island of Basse-Terre.
In the commune of Capesterre-Belle-Eau
The Allée Dumanoir is located at south of Capesterre-Belle-Eau which is southeast of Basse Terre.

The island of Basse-Terre in Guadeloupe has a lush landscape and magnificent roads, far from the tourist resorts.
Among the sites best known for their ease of access, there's the Cascade des EcrevissesWith its lush greenery and cool forest, it's just a five-minute walk from the parking lot.
Dumanoir alley

This beautiful avenue, lined with royal palms on both sides, runs alongside the N1, which links Capesterre-Belle-Eau to Trois-Rivières in around 20 minutes by car.
Trois-Rivières is also where you'll find departures for Les Saintes, including these day trips with expert local guides who share many anecdotes.
Really take the time to stop for a few minutes to contemplate the place, enjoy the peace and quiet, and take some pretty pictures. Over a kilometer of palm trees to photograph in Guadeloupe.

Every time I go there, there are very few people, which makes it possible to let your imagination run wild with photos. You'll sometimes notice passers-by in the middle of a walking or running session.

The history of Dumanoir Lane
The question I'm asking myself is: when were the palm trees planted?
A magical cruise in a small group in the Grand-Cul-de-Sac-Marin lagoon 3 snorkeling stops - duration 8h
It's amazing how dates vary from one source to another, between 1750-1850So I'd rather not make a firm commitment on this point.
The Allée Dumanoir project has been initiated by Philippe-Parfait Pinel Dumanoirthe author of the famous novel Uncle Tom's Cabin. He eventually gave his name to the alley, but the Dumanoir alley was also known as the Moulin à Eau alley and the Pinel alley.
Too bad there are no signs to share more information about the rich history of this alley. Perhaps you have some? If so, I'm interested in adding to my knowledge and sharing it here!
The Allée Dumanoir is a must-see in Guadeloupe!
See you soon for the next article and have a great week 🙂 .
